Atopic dermatitis is chronic eczematous skin disease of childhood. Severe itching and other symptoms of atopic dermatitis affect profoundly not only the patient himself/herself but also family members of patient. For example, great influence even on the quality of life (QoL) was confirmed. Recent increase in prevalence made atopic dermatitis as a social problem. Meanwhile, with respect to the basic facts about atopic dermatitis, more remain to be discovered. In this review, to expand understandings about atopic dermatitis of those who are interested, an overview of atopic dermatitis - from disease definition to management, will be briefly introduced.
